Sage 50 Quantum Downgrade

Paying for Quantum but only using Pro or Premium features? We downgrade the file for you.

The problem

A Sage 50 Quantum company file won’t open in Pro or Premium – Sage blocks it by design. So if you’ve been paying for Quantum but don’t actually use the Quantum-only features, you can’t simply switch editions: the file has to be converted down to the lower edition first. That’s what we do.

Start with your edition

“Sage 50” covers two genuinely different products, and the downgrade differs on both sides – different file formats, different pre-flight steps, different things to watch for. Pick yours:

• US Edition Quantum downgrade – the Peachtree lineage. Your backups end in .PTB.
• Canadian Edition Quantum downgrade – the Simply Accounting lineage. Your backups end in .CAB, and your company is a .SAI file plus a .SAJ folder.

What to have ready

Your current Sage version, the target edition (Pro or Premium), and your file size – in Sage, that’s under Help > Support Utilities > File Statistics. US Quantum users on the Peachtree lineage: if SmartPosting is enabled, it needs to be turned off before you make the backup you send us. Canadian users: send the .CAB backup, or the .SAI and the whole .SAJ folder together.
