Will Sage Intacct budgets convert to QuickBooks?

In most cases yes: budget figures can be carried into QuickBooks budgets, though how period, class, and location detail maps depends on your file.

Yes, in most cases. Budget figures held in Sage Intacct can be carried into the QuickBooks budget feature as part of a conversion, so you are not left rebuilding the numbers by hand. How much of the surrounding structure survives depends on the file, because a QuickBooks budget is a simpler object than the budgets most Intacct users maintain.

Do the budget figures transfer?

The amounts themselves are ordinary data, and ordinary data can be moved. The destination is a grid: accounts down the side, periods across the top. If the source holds several budget versions, the sensible approach is usually to bring across the version you actually report against and leave drafts behind. Which versions are worth moving is a decision we make with you once we can see the file.

Mapping budget periods

A QuickBooks budget covers one fiscal year at a time, laid out month by month. For the figures to land in the right columns, the periods in the source have to line up with the fiscal year and start month configured in QuickBooks. Where the two calendars differ, the amounts must be re-based onto the QuickBooks calendar first. Our engineers do that during the conversion, so you do not open the budget and find April sitting in January.

Mapping class and location

QuickBooks Online can subdivide a budget by class or by location, in the editions that carry those features. That gives a natural landing spot: an Intacct class maps to a QuickBooks class, and an Intacct location maps to a QuickBooks location. Desktop is narrower. It subdivides budgets by class and by customer, and it has no location subdivision at all. A location split therefore has to be folded into classes, kept as separate budgets, or left behind. Which route makes sense depends on how heavily your file uses each dimension.

The parts that depend on your file

How many years come across, how budget versions are treated, and how dimensions with no QuickBooks equivalent are resolved: none of that has one fixed answer. It depends on how the file is built. Rather than quote a rule that may not fit your data, we evaluate the file first and tell you exactly what the budgets will look like on the other side. That review is part of our Sage Intacct to QuickBooks conversion service.

A practical next step

Start with a free evaluation. Send us the file, or a copy of it, and our engineers will examine the budget structure and report back: what converts cleanly, what maps to class and location, and what needs a decision from you. You get a firm answer, and a free quote, before any work begins.
