Will Sage Intacct bank and credit card reconciliations convert to QuickBooks?
It depends on the file and method: transactions can convert with cleared status intact, and you then resume reconciling in QuickBooks at a cutoff date.
Usually not as finished reconciliations. The transactions behind them can convert, and the cleared status on each bank and credit card entry can be carried over so QuickBooks knows what the bank has already matched. The closed reconciliation history itself, the month-by-month record Intacct keeps, does not normally come across as completed QuickBooks reconcile sessions. Exactly what carries depends on your file, so we confirm it during a free evaluation before any work begins.
The difference between cleared and reconciled
In QuickBooks, two things are at work. Each transaction carries a cleared state, and each account builds a history of reconcile sessions with their own reports. A conversion can set the cleared state on the transactions it brings across. Rebuilding the session history is a different matter, because that record lives inside each system in its own way. Plan on keeping the Intacct reports, or exported copies of them, as the archive for reconciliations completed there.
Choosing a cutoff date
The clean approach is a cutoff that lines up with the last completed reconciliation in Intacct, ideally a month end. History before the cutoff converts with cleared status in place. The first reconcile in QuickBooks then starts with the very next statement. Converting mid-cycle is workable, but the first reconcile has to straddle two systems, and the beginning balance takes more care to prove.
Resuming the reconcile in QuickBooks
After the conversion, open the reconcile screen for each bank and credit card account. Confirm the beginning balance equals the closing balance on the last statement Intacct reconciled. In a clean conversion, items dated before the cutoff arrive already marked as cleared; anything after is yours to match against the statement as normal. If you want the routine around this written out, our bookkeeping practice keeps notes on reconciliations and the month-end close that cover the first cycle after a migration.
A free evaluation settles the details
How many accounts you have, how far back the history goes, and whether cleared status can be set on every converted entry all vary by file. Our engineers review the data as part of our Sage to QuickBooks conversion services, confirm the approach, and tell you what the first reconcile will look like on the other side. Cost and timing depend on the file, so we quote after the evaluation rather than guess.
The next step is to send us the file or an export, and we will map out exactly where each account picks up.
