Will Sage BusinessWorks accounts receivable and customer history convert to QuickBooks?
Yes, customer records and open accounts receivable can carry over, but what arrives depends on the file, so a free evaluation is the safe first step.
Yes. Customer records, open invoices, and the receivable balances behind them are a standard part of moving Sage BusinessWorks to QuickBooks. Our engineers convert them as a set, so the aging in QuickBooks matches the aging you close out of BusinessWorks. The open variable is closed history: how much of it comes across, and in what form, depends on the file.
What actually moves?
The customer list usually converts cleanly. Names, billing and shipping addresses, contact details, and payment terms map onto QuickBooks customer records. Open invoices come across as open invoices, each keeping its original date, due date, and amount. Applied payments and credits are the detail that decides whether every balance ties out exactly, and that is where files differ. We verify those links during the evaluation rather than assume them.
The full scope of this work is on our Sage BusinessWorks to QuickBooks conversion page, including what we check on each file before starting.
How much history should you bring?
Two approaches work well. One converts open items only and carries prior periods as summary entries, which keeps the QuickBooks file lean. The other brings transaction history forward in detail, preserving per-customer reporting at the cost of a larger file. Neither choice is universal; the right one depends on how you report and how far back you drill. A very large customer list also needs checking against QuickBooks name limits, which we do during the evaluation.
The review we run first
Before any conversion, we look at the BusinessWorks file itself. We count the customers, review the open items, and flag anything that needs a decision, such as unapplied credits or old invoices you may prefer to write off. You get a written summary of what will move, so the scope is settled before work begins. The review is free, and it replaces guessing.
Send the file, or a backup of it, and request the free evaluation. We will tell you exactly how your receivables and customer history will land in QuickBooks before anything is converted.
