Will my Sage 50 transactions convert to QuickBooks?
Yes, in most conversions your Sage 50 transaction history moves to QuickBooks, though some detail may be summarized and balances should be verified after.
Yes, in most cases. A Sage 50 to QuickBooks conversion transfers your transaction history, not just your lists and opening balances. Sales invoices, bills, payments, receipts, and journal entries are rebuilt in QuickBooks so you can keep working without re-entering past years. How much detail travels with each transaction varies from file to file. Most of it converts, and we verify the result against your Sage 50 reports before we deliver the new file.
Which transactions move across?
We bring over the transactions that make up your books: sales invoices and customer payments, purchase bills and vendor payments, general journal entries, and the banking activity behind them. Customer and vendor balances are rebuilt from that history, so aging reports in QuickBooks agree with your Sage 50 ledgers as of the conversion date.
Where you carry inventory, transactions are included when the items can be mapped to QuickBooks inventory items. The exact scope depends on your edition and modules; our Sage 50 to QuickBooks conversion service page describes the process we follow.
Detail that may be omitted
Some data does not survive a conversion in its original form. Payroll journal detail, bank reconciliation status, and audit trail history are common examples: they may arrive summarized, be converted as journal entries, or stay in Sage 50 for reference. Custom fields and some built-in reports have no direct equivalent in QuickBooks. What gets omitted depends on your edition, your modules, and how the file is structured. We review your file first and tell you what will and will not convert.
Verifying your balances after conversion
Verification is simple and worth doing yourself. In Sage 50, run a trial balance, an accounts receivable aging summary, and an accounts payable aging summary as of the conversion date. Run the same three reports in the new QuickBooks file and compare them line by line. The figures should match. If you carry inventory, compare the inventory valuation report as well. We include this comparison with every conversion so you can confirm the numbers before you rely on the file.
Sending us your file
Start with a current backup of your Sage 50 company data. Send it to us and we will evaluate it at no charge, confirm which transactions will convert, and flag anything that will be summarized or left behind. If your file is Sage 50 Canada (Simply Accounting), the same evaluation applies through our Sage 50 Canada to QuickBooks conversion service. Either way, you get a written summary of what converts and a quote before any work begins.
