Will my Sage 50 bank feeds map to QuickBooks bank rules?

No. Sage 50 bank feeds do not map to QuickBooks bank rules, so you will need to set them up again after converting.

No. Bank feeds and bank rules are configuration, not accounting data, so they do not carry across in a Sage 50 to QuickBooks conversion. Your transaction history comes over. The live feed connections and the rules that auto-categorize downloaded transactions stay behind.

The conversion moves your history

We convert the accounting records from your Sage 50 file. Our Sage 50 to QuickBooks conversion includes customers, vendors, the chart of accounts, and the transactions behind your historical balances. What it does not include is the setup around those records. Bank logins, feed connections, and bank rules are settings inside Sage 50 or QuickBooks. They are not part of the financial data.

Bank rules do not translate

QuickBooks bank rules match on QuickBooks payees, accounts, and transaction types. Sage 50 uses its own matching logic. There is no common format for the two rule systems, so a conversion tool cannot translate one set into the other. This is not data loss. It is just a different feature in a different program.

Rebuild the rules in QuickBooks

After the conversion, connect your bank accounts in QuickBooks and recreate the rules that matter most. Start with regular vendors or recurring expense types. QuickBooks checks each new downloaded transaction against the rules you have set up in QuickBooks. It does not check your Sage rules. That means the earlier you rebuild the important rules, the less manual sorting you will do.

A practical check

Once your bank feed is connected, run a reconciliation against your opening balances. That catches miscategorized transactions early. It also gives you a clean starting point for the new bank rules. Check that each bank account is linked to the right QuickBooks account before the first download. Exactly what carries over can depend on the file, so we offer a free evaluation before you move.
