Will my Sage 50 1099 vendor information convert to QuickBooks?

In most cases yes, the 1099 flag and tax ID carry over with each vendor; payment totals by year depend on the file and how history maps.

Usually, yes. Vendor records convert, and a properly mapped conversion brings the 1099 eligibility flag and the tax ID over with each vendor. Payment totals by year are the part that needs attention, because QuickBooks builds those from the transactions rather than the vendor card. The exact result depends on your file, so we check it before anyone commits.

The flag and the tax ID

Sage keeps 1099 eligibility on the vendor record, and QuickBooks keeps the equivalent setting on its vendor list. Our engineers map the two during the conversion, so a vendor marked for 1099 reporting should arrive in QuickBooks already flagged, tax ID attached. One caution: if a vendor was flagged incorrectly in Sage, or the tax ID is missing, the conversion carries the error with it. Bad data converts as faithfully as good data.

Payment totals need the most care

QuickBooks builds 1099 totals from payments made to eligible vendors during the tax year. The totals come out right only if the payment history converts and lands on the correct 1099 boxes. Move just the vendor list and the totals will be empty, which leaves you rebuilding them by hand. Whether your totals carry depends on the scope of your conversion and on the file itself, so we confirm it during the evaluation rather than guess.

Verify before filing season

Do not wait until the forms are due. Run the vendor 1099 summary and detail reports in QuickBooks and compare them, vendor by vendor, against the figures you closed in Sage. Check that each eligible vendor still carries its flag and tax ID, that box assignments match what you filed before, and that no vendor dropped off in the move. Our guide to verifying 1099 vendor data in QuickBooks covers the reports in detail. Errors are cheap to fix before filing and painful after.

A free evaluation settles it

Whether your totals carry cleanly depends on what is inside your file, and we would rather look than guess. Our engineers will evaluate your Sage data at no cost and tell you exactly how the flags, tax IDs, and payment totals will land in QuickBooks. The conversion itself is our Sage 50 to QuickBooks conversion service. Send the file over before filing season gets close and you will know precisely where you stand.
