What features do I lose downgrading Sage 50 Quantum to Premium?

You mainly lose Quantum-only capabilities: the higher user limit, advanced security roles, and dashboard insights. Your data stays intact.

A downgrade from Quantum to Premium costs you features, not records. The losses sit in three areas: the number of simultaneous users, the advanced security model, and the dashboard and insight tools. Your lists, balances, and transaction history are data, and data is not what gets removed.

What drops away at the Premium tier?

User count is the first difference. Premium licences allow fewer people in the file at the same time than Quantum does. The exact number depends on your release year and licence type, so count your active logins before you commit.

Advanced security is the second. Quantum ships with role-based security that controls screens and actions in fine detail. Premium works with simpler user permissions instead. Roles built under Quantum generally do not carry over as-is, because the model they were built in is not there anymore.

Dashboard and insight tools are the third. The business dashboards and analysis features tied to Quantum go away, and staff who rely on them will need standard reports instead. Other Quantum extras exist as well, and the exact list varies by release year. We check your specific edition against your file rather than guess.

Does your data survive the downgrade?

Yes. Your chart of accounts, customers, vendors, items, employees, open balances, and transaction history are records, not features. Removing the Quantum feature layer does not delete them. Security settings are configuration rather than data, so expect to set permissions up again under the simpler Premium model.

Exactly how any given file behaves through the change depends on the file itself. That is why our engineers evaluate a copy before anything is modified.

Prepare before you downgrade

Three checks make the move smoother. Count active users and decide which logins matter most. List the dashboards and reports people depend on, then confirm a Premium equivalent exists. Take a full backup first, always.

If you would rather not run the move yourself, our engineers handle it end to end through our Sage 50 Quantum downgrade service, including the permission rebuild that follows.
