What carries over from Sage Intacct to QuickBooks?

Most financial lists and transaction history can carry over, but Intacct's dimensional structure does not map directly to QuickBooks, so exact results depend on your file.

Most core financial data — chart of accounts, vendor and customer lists, historical transactions, and balances — can be moved from Sage Intacct to QuickBooks. What we cannot promise without looking at the file is how cleanly Intacct’s dimensional framework translates, because Intacct and QuickBooks handle multi-entity, multi-currency, and dimensional data differently.

Where the structures differ

Sage Intacct is built around dimensions — locations, departments, projects, classes, items, and custom dimensions — that tag every transaction. QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online use a flatter model: Customer:Job, Class, and (in Desktop) Location fields. There is no automatic one-to-one mapping between an Intacct dimension and a QuickBooks field. Our engineers have to look at which dimensions you actually use and decide, field by field, where each one lands in QuickBooks.

Multi-entity data is another area where the two platforms diverge. Intacct supports multiple entities in a single environment. QuickBooks Desktop handles multiple company files, and QuickBooks Online treats each entity as a separate subscription. That structural difference affects whether your conversion produces one QuickBooks file or several.

What typically carries over

In a standard conversion, the data that generally moves cleanly includes the chart of accounts, customer and vendor lists, employee records (as list entries, not payroll), open receivables and payables, and historical transactions such as invoices, bills, payments, and journal entries. Beginning balances and historical summary data can usually be reconstructed.

What may not carry over — or may need restructuring — includes Intacct-specific features like custom dimensions, multi-book entries, allocations, and specialized reporting tags. Whether those can be approximated in QuickBooks depends on how heavily you rely on them and which QuickBooks product you are moving to.

Why we evaluate before committing

Because every Intacct environment is configured differently, the only honest answer about what will carry through in your case comes from looking at your exported data. We offer a free evaluation where our engineers review your Intacct export, identify what maps directly, flag what needs manual restructuring, and give you a clear picture before any work begins. The conversion approach we take is the same whether you are moving Intacct to QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online.

Next step

Send us a backup or export of your Sage Intacct data. We will examine the dimensions, entities, and transaction volume you are working with, tell you exactly what we expect to carry over, and provide a free quote for the conversion.
