Can I open a Sage 50 Quantum file in Pro or Premium?
No -- Sage blocks it by design. Here's why, and what you can do about it.
Short answer: no. A company file that’s been opened in Sage 50 Quantum can’t be opened in Pro or Premium. If you try, Sage shows a message along the lines of “This company cannot be opened with Sage 50 Pro/Premium Accounting because it is from Sage 50 Quantum Accounting.”
Why Sage blocks it
Quantum supports things the lower editions don’t – more simultaneous users and some advanced features – so Sage stamps the file as a Quantum file and refuses to open it in an edition that can’t guarantee those features. There’s no setting that lifts the block.
What you can actually do
The file has to be converted down to the Pro or Premium edition first. That’s a one-time job: the data is rebuilt into a Pro/Premium-compatible file that opens normally, with your customers, vendors, transactions, and history intact.
That’s exactly what our Sage 50 Quantum downgrade service does – priced by file size, usually back to you in two business days. It runs slightly differently on each lineage, so start on the page for yours: US Edition (Peachtree) or Canadian Edition (Simply Accounting).
If you’re not sure which edition you’re on or how big the file is, check your file statistics first, then send them over for a quote.
