Is my financial data kept confidential during a Sage to QuickBooks conversion?

Yes. Your file is treated as confidential: encrypted transfer, access limited to the assigned engineer, and deletion once you confirm the converted data.

Yes. Confidentiality is a condition of the work, not an optional extra. A conversion runs on a copy of your company file, and from the moment that copy leaves your hands it is treated as private financial information. The same handling applies across our Sage to QuickBooks conversion service, whether your books sit in Sage 50, BusinessWorks, or Intacct.

How does the file reach us?

You upload a backup or an exported copy through a secure channel, and the transfer runs over an encrypted connection. The work happens on that copy rather than inside your live books, and bank or payment logins are never part of the job. Your original stays on your own system the entire time.

Who can open the file?

Access is narrow by design. Only the engineer assigned to your job can open the copy, and only to do the work you requested. It sits in a secured work area, not on a shared drive. Your data is not sold, not shared, and not used for any other purpose. Staff who answer messages see your correspondence, not your books. Where your policy, contract, or auditor calls for it, we will sign a non-disclosure agreement before anything is uploaded.

When is the data deleted?

Working copies and intermediate files are destroyed once the job is closed and you have confirmed the converted data. You can also request deletion at any earlier point, including right after delivery, and receive written confirmation that it was done. No archive of customer books is kept after a job closes.

Your part in keeping the file private

Send a backup rather than your only copy, and keep the original under your control throughout. If your accounting software can password-protect a backup, use that option and pass the password through a separate channel. It also helps to convert only the history you actually need; less data sent is less data exposed.

Before you send a file anywhere, ask for the terms in writing: how the file moves, who can open it, and when it is destroyed. We state those terms up front, and we will repeat them in the job confirmation so nothing depends on memory.
