How long does it take to downgrade Sage 50 Quantum to Pro?

The time depends on the size and condition of your data, so we confirm it after a free evaluation, and downtime is usually short.

There is no fixed answer. The turnaround depends on your file: its size, its history, and its condition. We confirm the exact schedule in writing after a free evaluation, so you know the timing before anyone touches your data.

What drives the turnaround?

Volume matters most. A file with a couple of years of transactions finishes sooner than one holding a decade of history. Condition matters too: a database with integrity problems has to be repaired before it can be downgraded, and that adds time. What your company uses that Pro does not include also affects the work, as does the release the file currently sits on. We weigh all of this during the evaluation and give you a firm turnaround rather than a guess that moves.

Do staff have to stop working in Sage 50?

For most of the process, no. Our engineers work on a copy of your data, so the office keeps running in Quantum while the downgrade is done. You agree a cutoff point with us, usually a day end or a month end. Staff stop entering data at that cutoff, because anything typed afterwards would sit in the old file only. We base the working copy on a backup from that point, so the downgraded file picks up exactly where you stopped.

The visible downtime is the switch itself: putting the new file in place and checking that it opens and balances. That step is short, and most customers schedule it for the end of the day or a weekend. Your original file is never modified, so there is always a fallback if anything looks off.

How do you get a firm schedule?

Send us a backup copy and we will examine it at no charge. We tell you what the downgrade involves for your data, what to check on delivery, and the turnaround in writing before you commit. If you have a target date in mind, say so up front and we will plan the cutoff around it.

You can start on our Sage 50 Quantum to Pro downgrade page, or contact us about your specific file. The evaluation is free and carries no obligation.
