How do I send my Sage company file safely for conversion?
We provide a secure upload channel for your Sage file, so your accounting data is transmitted and handled with strong privacy protections throughout the process.
We use a secure, encrypted file-transfer process for every Sage company file we receive, so your accounting data is protected in transit and while our engineers work on it. You do not need to email the file as a plain attachment or use a consumer file-sharing service.
What we ask you to send
In most cases we need a backup of your Sage company file rather than a live copy of the database. For Sage 50 (US Peachtree or Canadian Simply Accounting), that typically means creating a backup through the software’s built-in backup function. For Sage BusinessWorks or Sage Intacct, the deliverable may differ – our engineers will tell you exactly what to export or back up once we understand your file. If you are unsure whether you have the right file type, send what you have and we will confirm.
How the secure transfer works
When you are ready to proceed, we provide a dedicated secure upload link. The connection is encrypted, and the file lands in a controlled environment – not a shared inbox or an open folder. We will send you that link directly after an initial conversation about your conversion or downgrade, so the transfer is tied to your specific case and not a generic drop box.
Protecting sensitive details
If your file contains payroll data, social security numbers, or banking details that you would prefer not to share, let us know. In many cases we can work with a copy of the file in which those fields have been removed or masked, depending on what the conversion requires. What carries over and what is essential for the conversion depends on the source file and the destination format, so we evaluate each file individually.
What happens after we receive the file
Our engineers open the file in a controlled staging environment, assess its structure, and confirm what will convert cleanly. If anything looks off – damaged data, missing lists, or version incompatibilities – we flag it before proceeding. You can contact us about your specific file and we will walk you through the upload steps and provide the secure link at that point.
Next step
Reach out with a short note about your Sage version and what you are moving to (QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, or a Sage 50 Quantum downgrade). We will send the secure upload instructions and evaluate the file at no cost so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.
