How do I export my data from Sage Intacct?

Sage Intacct offers built-in CSV export tools for lists and transactions, and those exports are the starting point for any move to QuickBooks.

Sage Intacct, being a cloud-based platform, lets you export your data through its built-in reporting and list-export tools – primarily as CSV files. Those exports are the practical starting point for any migration to QuickBooks, though what you can pull out and how cleanly it maps depends on your Intacct configuration.

What you can export

Inside Sage Intacct, users with the right permissions can export most core lists – customers, vendors, employees, chart of accounts, items, and similar entities – directly to CSV or Excel format. Transaction data is typically accessed through the reporting module, where you can run reports on general-ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other transaction types, and then export the results.

The platform also offers a data-delivery service for larger or scheduled exports, which some organizations use when they need bulk extracts. The exact fields, dimensions, and custom entities available in your export depend on how your Intacct environment is configured, so there is no universal export template we can describe without looking at your specific setup.

Why export is the starting point for a move

Because Intacct is hosted in the cloud, there is no local company file to copy or hand off the way there is with desktop-based Sage products. Everything has to come out through the platform’s export mechanisms or its API. That means the quality and completeness of your migration to QuickBooks depends heavily on how thoroughly the data is extracted and how accurately it maps to QuickBooks’ list and transaction structures.

Intacct’s multi-entity, multi-currency, and dimensional-accounting features can add complexity, since QuickBooks handles some of these concepts differently. The export gives you the raw material, but the mapping and cleanup are where the real work happens.
