Do I need my accountant involved to move from Sage to QuickBooks?

No, the conversion does not require your accountant to participate, though a brief review afterward is often worthwhile for reconciliation and tax mapping.

No, you do not need your accountant involved to complete the conversion itself. Our engineers handle the data extraction, mapping, and delivery of the converted file, and the process works the same whether your accountant is actively participating or not involved at all.

What the conversion handles on its own

When we move your company off Sage – whether that is Sage 50 US (Peachtree), Sage 50 Canada (Simply Accounting), Sage BusinessWorks, or Sage Intacct – our engineers work directly from your Sage backup or data file. We extract the lists, transactions, balances, and history, map them to the QuickBooks structure, and deliver a working QuickBooks company file back to you. You do not need an accountant on the call or reviewing intermediate steps for the conversion to proceed.

Where an accountant’s review adds value

After the converted file is delivered, there are a few areas where your accountant’s input can be genuinely useful, though none of them are blockers:

None of these require your accountant to be present during the conversion. A review after delivery is sufficient.

What to do if your accountant is unavailable

Many of our customers complete the conversion and bring their accountant in afterward, or not at all. If you handle your own books, the delivered file is ready to open and work in. If issues surface later – a list that needs adjusting, a balance that looks off – we can address those as follow-up items.

Next step

Send us your Sage backup file for a free evaluation. We will assess what carries over, identify anything that needs attention, and give you a clear picture of the scope before you decide whether to loop in your accountant.
