Can Sage Intacct be converted to QuickBooks Online?
Yes, Sage Intacct data can be moved to QuickBooks Online, but it takes a staged conversion from exported data, not a direct import.
Yes, Sage Intacct can be converted to QuickBooks Online. There is no direct import, because Intacct is a cloud system with no company file to hand over. The conversion works from the data you export out of Intacct, which is then mapped and loaded into an Online company. What carries over, and how much history comes with it, depends on the file and on the Online plan you choose.
Does converting to Online differ from converting to Desktop?
It does, and the difference shapes the whole job. A Desktop conversion ends in a company file you open locally, and Desktop is more forgiving of large lists and long histories. An Online conversion ends in a live cloud company with firm ceilings. Online imports also go in stages: lists first, then transactions, then opening balances. Because of that, most Online migrations bring a recent window of history across in full and summarize the older years as opening balances.
What comes out of Sage Intacct?
Intacct gives you exports rather than a packaged file. In practice that means spreadsheets: the chart of accounts, customers, vendors, items, and employees as lists, and general ledger, receivables, and payables history as transactions. Which of those exist, and how cleanly they export, depends on the modules you have and how they were set up. Two Intacct companies rarely export the same way, so our engineers review the data before promising anything.
Online limits to plan around
Three limits cause most of the trouble. Online caps list sizes, and the caps vary by plan, so a large chart of accounts may need pruning before import. Our QuickBooks Online help and how-tos cover plan differences if you are still weighing tiers. Very long histories can exceed what Online will accept, or simply bog the company down, so a cutoff date is the usual answer.
Features behave differently as well. Multicurrency in Online cannot be switched off once it is on, so that decision belongs before import, not after. Intacct dimensions need a home as classes, locations, or tags, and that mapping is hard to change later. Inventory is simpler in Online than in a full ERP, so item structure deserves an early decision.
A practical first step
Pick a cutover date and a history window, then export what you can from Intacct, lists and transactions both. Get them reviewed before you commit to a date. We start every job with a free evaluation of your Sage Intacct conversion. Our engineers look at the data, propose the list mapping and the history cutoff, and quote the work with no obligation. Cost and timing depend on the file, which is why the evaluation comes first.
