Can I test my Sage to QuickBooks conversion before going live?

Yes. A trial conversion lets you review your lists, balances, and open transactions in QuickBooks before you run the final, live conversion.

Yes. A trial conversion is a standard part of the process, and we recommend one for every Sage to QuickBooks conversion. You convert a copy of your Sage data first, review the results in QuickBooks, flag anything that looks wrong, and only then run the final conversion that becomes your live company file. Your Sage data itself is never touched during the trial, so there is no risk in testing.

How a trial conversion works

We work from a copy of your Sage backup, not your live company. Our engineers run the conversion on that copy and return a QuickBooks file you can open and explore at your own pace. Nothing in Sage changes, and you can keep working in Sage while you review. Once you are satisfied, we run the final conversion from a current backup taken at your cutoff date, so the live file reflects your balances as of the day you actually switch.

What to check in the trial

Go through the converted file the way you would at a month-end close:

Exactly what carries over, and how much history, depends on the file: its size, its version, and how cleanly the data is structured. That is precisely why the trial matters. It shows you the real result for your data rather than a general promise.

What if something looks wrong?

That is the point of the trial. Note every discrepancy you find, and we adjust the mapping or the conversion settings and rerun it. Typical examples include an account mapped to the wrong type, a customer name that did not come across cleanly, or open balances that need a different cutoff treatment. Fixes happen on our side before the final run, not after you have gone live and started entering new transactions.

Then the final conversion

Once the trial passes your review, take a fresh Sage backup at your chosen cutover date. We convert that backup using the same settings you already approved, so there are no surprises. The result becomes your live QuickBooks company file, and Sage moves into read-only archive duty for reference and any historical lookups.

Next step

Send us a copy of your Sage backup for a free evaluation. We will assess the file, tell you what a trial conversion would include for your specific data, and give you a free quote, so you can decide whether to proceed with the test run before committing to the live switch.
