Can I keep using Sage while my file is being converted to QuickBooks?

Yes. The conversion works on a copy of your Sage data, so your original file stays untouched and you can continue working in Sage until cutover.

Yes. The conversion is performed on a copy of your Sage data, not the live file, so your original company file stays fully intact and you can keep working in Sage throughout the process.

How the process protects your live data

When we begin a conversion, our engineers work from a backup copy of your Sage file – whether that is Sage 50 (US Peachtree or Canadian Simply Accounting), Sage BusinessWorks, or Sage Intacct. The original database on your server or workstation is never modified, opened exclusively, or locked. Your team continues entering transactions, running payroll, printing invoices, and doing everything they normally do in Sage.

Planning a clean cutover

The key is agreeing on a cutover date before the conversion begins. Because you will keep entering new transactions in Sage while the conversion is in progress, any entries made after we receive your file copy will not appear in the converted QuickBooks file. There are two common ways to handle this:

Which approach fits your situation depends on your transaction volume, how many users enter data, and whether you can pause for a clean break. We help you think through that during the evaluation.

What we recommend

Send us a copy of your current Sage file and we will assess the data, identify what carries over cleanly, and map out a cutover plan that minimizes downtime. The evaluation is free – we look at the specifics of your file and give you a clear picture of scope, what to expect, and how to time the transition so nothing falls through the cracks.
