Can I convert Sage 50 to QuickBooks Enterprise?
Yes, Sage 50 converts to QuickBooks Enterprise the same way it does to Pro or Premier, and Enterprise is often the better fit for large files.
Yes. Sage 50 converts to QuickBooks Enterprise, and the conversion itself is the same process we use for QuickBooks Pro or Premier: we take the lists and transaction history off the Sage file and build a QuickBooks company file, and the only difference is the destination edition. Nothing about Enterprise makes the conversion harder; it changes what the file can handle once you are in it.
When Enterprise is the right destination
Enterprise earns its keep when a Sage company has outgrown the smaller editions:
- Large lists. Pro and Premier cap the combined name list (customers, vendors, employees, and other names) at 14,500 entries. Companies leaving Sage after many years often sit near or over that line, and Enterprise’s higher ceiling means you do not have to trim names just to fit.
- More users. If several people work in the books at the same time, Enterprise supports many more simultaneous users than Pro or Premier.
- Advanced inventory. Tools such as serial and lot number tracking, bin locations, and stock across several sites live in Enterprise, which matters if you ran detailed inventory in Sage.
If none of that applies, Pro or Premier is usually the simpler landing spot, and the data converts the same way either way.
What comes across
The same data that converts to other QuickBooks editions converts to Enterprise: the chart of accounts, customer and vendor lists, items, and transaction history. Exactly how much history, which balances, and how inventory lands depends on the individual file and how it was kept in Sage, so our engineers evaluate the file before quoting rather than promise a fixed list. The evaluation is free.
Pick the edition before you convert
It is worth settling on Enterprise before the conversion rather than after. Stepping up from Pro or Premier later is the simpler move; going the other way is a separate downgrade with its own constraints. If you expect the lists or the user count to grow, converting straight into Enterprise saves a second project later.
How the conversion works
We work from a copy of your Sage 50 backup, whether the file is the US edition (formerly Peachtree) or the Canadian edition (formerly Simply Accounting), and deliver a company file you open directly in Enterprise. Your original Sage data is not touched; the work happens on the copy. Details for the Sage 50 US conversion and the Sage 50 Canadian conversion are on the service pages.
The practical next step: locate your most recent Sage backup and send it over for a free evaluation. We will tell you what will convert into Enterprise and quote the job before any work begins.
